At first the living room was full with al these boxes, now some of them
are already unpacked and moved to the kitchen. Not all at it's right
space, but nevertheless you can see how it's gonna be when all is
finished.
|
Now, at the end of the Christmas holidays the ceiling of the living room
is also closed. Marcel screw a couple of thousand screws into the four
ceilings and Riet filled them up and sanded them to make it even. So we
both have a bit of a stiff neck and shoulders and an arm that feels
twice as long.
|
When the kitchen was
placed we took it easy for a few weeks. But of course there still
are some completed projects we can mention.
The hole in the first top for the kitchen sink turned out to be a
bit to big. We got a new one of course and Marcel made two window
sills and the kitchen table out of the first top. We thought the
colour of our kitchen was quite exeptional, but we managed to get
the same colour of paint for the kitchen table and chairs. So now
the whole kitchen forms a whole.
|
In the living room
another two rooms have been plastered. Only two more to go!
The kitchen sink in de storing room is placed and under it the
washing machine and dryer stand neatly together.
In the toilet we got the cupboard with the washbowl, the baseboards
in the kitchen were painted and some more "small" jobs were fixed.
|
We already made the room for the sauna in the bathroom. The wall and
ceiling are finished. And we bought a stove and a glass sauna
door. It will probably take some time till we can use the sauna, but
having done this we can go on with the rest of the bathroom.
|
And just as soon as the tub was "placed" Marcel had his bath! Not with
any water in it, but oh, was he happy............
|
The living room is now ready to be lived in. From a few oakwood plates
Marcel made five windowsills. So, of course, they fit perfectly.
Next the walls got a nice warm colour.
And finally we placed the ligth oak parquet floor. Marcel said this was
a pleasure to do.
|
The living room is ready. Just some small things left to do. We save them
for a rainy winters day.
We are really missing our bath now, so that's our next project: the bath
room. A somewhat cooler weather would be nice, for we need lots of cement
brought up the stairs.
But first the floor heating was placed.
|
Marcel chose the "coolest" day of the week to lay the bathroom floor.
Approximately 80 buckets of cement, each weighing about 20 kilo's have to
be lugged up the stairs.
That's a pretty tough job to do, but it was even harder because of the 30
degrees and the high humidity (because of all the water in the cement).
Fortunately our neighbour Ton felt sorry for Marcel and helped him to make
the cement.
|
A few weeks later the bathroom is almost done. The concrete floor is dry
now and the tiles are on the walls. And the room has already a complete
different sight. |
|
|
The tiles are quite big, bit it still is a lot of work. The sawing machine
is working overtime with all these little angles. After the tiles
were placed Marcel started with the floor. In the shower we'll get small
tiles of 6 x 6 cm and on the rest of the floor
48 x 48 cm. |
All the tiles are placed now. And the floor heating is working as well.
It's gonna be a beautiful bathroom.
See for yourself!
